DIY Dry Shampoo
I never knew about dry shampoo in college. I’m not sure how I managed to get through four years without it or even hearing about it, but that would have been a game-changer. Seriously, why did nobody tell me?! Don’t worry, I would never do that to you!!
I’m sharing my homemade, DIY, all-natural dry shampoo. It’s so easy and lasts FOREVER (like I made it once back in January and haven’t even made a dent in it). I usually wash my hair 2-3 times a week and use dry shampoo the other days. It saves me so much time. And this homemade stuff will save you so much money! I used to go through at least one store-bought bottle per month.
I switched mainly because Ryan complained every time I sprayed the store-bought stuff in my hair. I mean, I don’t blame him. I had to hold my breath and run away to gasp for air every time! It was not fun to breathe in, and Ryan said I was killing us with the toxic fumes (which may be valid). So, when I began my natural living journey as part of my 2018 New Year’s resolution, I thought dry shampoo might be an excellent place to start.
All you’ll need is a small jar or container, a cheap makeup brush (I used a larger e.l.f. blush brush I bought for $2), baking soda, cornstarch, arrowroot powder, and essential oil of your choice.
DIY DRY SHAMPOO RECIPE:
2 tbsp baking soda
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp arrowroot powder
6 drops essential oil (I used lavender from Rocky Mountain Oils)
Mix that up in your jar with a spoon, and that’s it! I use the makeup brush, dip it in the powder, and apply it directly to my roots. I prefer this over the spray kind because you can target specific areas and control the amount you’re using. It absorbs great and lasts long. And no holding your breath! Give it a try, and let me know what you think!
